allow me to make some introductions…
My intrigue with photography is more of an intrigue with creative expression in general. I treat this photography thing the same way I’ve treated any other craft. I pay attention to what I like, and I try my best to do stuff like it.
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to put into words what it is about photography that caught me so heavy and I still haven’t completely figured it out. I think part of it is trying to slow time down a bit. We’re not getting any younger and without the artistic things in life, from music to photography, what do we have to document anything? I don’t do diaries, I make music and I take pictures. The older I get the more I realize that memories fade. Months and years end up blurring together and photography is a good way to work against that.
This is the type of people my peers and I are and have been. As far back as I can remember, outlets for us to express ourselves had to be around us constantly. Without them, life never felt right. And as I evaluate everything now, there’s not much difference between making a good song and taking a good picture. With both, you try to set a mood. You try to create an ambiance. With both, you try to make something aesthetically pleasing. And with both, when you do it right and the pieces just kind of fall into place perfectly, a certain sent of accomplishment runs through you. It’s a thrill and for me, that’s the chase. A chase to make something out of nothing and make it beautiful as well as timeless.
