It’s a question that’s normally asked when meeting someone and networking… I usually follow it up with, “You mean, for work?”   

Personally, my profession has absolutely NOTHING to do with me nor my interests and unfortunately, I’m not yet in a situation where I’m able to align the two.  So depending on who I’m talking to, I give the short answer and describe my daily hustle. If I like you, I might just tell you somethin’ that I still haven’t gotten used to saying…

I am a writer.

Woah.  It still feels foreign coming out of my mouth.   

When I’m happy, I write.  When I have a funny ass story to share, I write.  When my imagination takes me to places only crazy people go, I write.   When I need to make sense of the mess I call life, I write.  Basically, “I write to feel alright.” 

And that’s ok with me, if that makes me a writer.   Has a nice ring to it, huh?
