It’s like tunnel vision. I got my eyes on the prize and everything else is simply a distraction that falls by the wayside.
As I picked at an enormous banana split with my friends last night, we were discussing the reasons why we weren’t seizing opportunities that were coming our way – like, a job offer that was ours if we wanted it, or an all expenses paid vacation to Jamaica with a man who adores us, or a “sleepover” with a “homie” who’s in town for the weekend. Simply put, we just didn’t want to.
But. WHY?
“Because. I’m just…not feelin’ it.”
Ok. I get it. It’s kind of like when you’ve fallen in love with Jeffrey Campbell’s latest collection. You’re fucking infatuated. You see other shoes that are on sale, just as cute, maybe more comfortable, MAYBE actually in stock at your favorite store but frankly, you don’t give a fuck. You know which pair would go amazing with every dress in your closet, and you will search every Nordstrom in Northern California to get them. You will call every LF in the state. You will search high and low online for your size.
Because when you know exactly what or who you want, nothing or no one else matters.
Yeah, it’s like that.
And I’m focused, man.
